The Starlight Cable

Lily was a girl who loved to doodle on her palm during math class. One swirly Tuesday, her squiggle started to glow. Suddenly, a shimmering golden cable unspooled from her palm, stretching up through the classroom ceiling and into the sky beyond!

"Whoa!" Lily whispered, tugging gently. The cable hummed like a plucked harp string. ZIP! She zipped upward, faster than a rocket, past birds and clouds and airplanes, all the way to the moon!

There, sitting in a crater, was the fluffiest cat she'd ever seen. His fur was silver-blue, with strands of hair that sparkled like tiny stars. He wore a little red cape.

"You found my star-cable!" the cat meowed, bouncing around her. "I'm Captain Whiskers, and I've been stuck on the moon for three hundred years!"

Lily's eyes widened. "You're a talking cat!"

"A SPACE talking cat," he corrected importantly. "And you're my new best friend. That's the rule of the star-cable. Whoever finds it becomes my friend forever and ever."

Lily giggled. "I've never had a cat friend before. Especially not one from space!"

They spent hours playing moon-tag and eating moon-cheese (which tasted like birthday cake). But soon, the star-cable began to flicker.

"Time to go!" Captain Whiskers said sadly. "But don't worry, friend. Look at your palm."

Lily looked. A tiny silver whisker was etched there, glowing softly. "Whenever you want to visit," the cat promised, "just trace this with your finger, and the star-cable will come back for you."

Lily zipped home just in time for the school bell. In her palm, the silver whisker still glowed—proof that magic is real, friendship can be found anywhere (even on the moon!), and the most wonderful adventures often begin with something as simple as a little doodle.

That night, as she fell asleep, Lily traced the whisker on her palm and smiled. Somewhere up there, under the starlight, her friend was waiting.
