The Starlight Cable

Lila loved to climb the old palm tree behind her house. From her perch high in the fronds, she could see the whole island glittering below like spilled jewels. But Lila's favorite secret was what happened after sunset.

Every night, when the moon rose silver and bright, a magical cable would appear stretching from her palm tree across the ocean to the mysterious island on the horizon. This was no ordinary cable—it shimmered with starlight and hummed with ancient songs.

Lila wasn't supposed to spy on the star creatures who traveled along the cable, but she couldn't help herself. She watched tiny beings with wings like butterfly wings and skin that glowed like pearls. They carried baskets filled with wishes and dreams, traveling between islands to deliver magic to sleeping children.

One night, a small star creature noticed Lila watching from her palm tree. Instead of flying away, it waved! Lila's heart fluttered like a captured firefly. The creature pointed to the empty space beside it on the cable, inviting her to join.

Lila had never been so brave. She climbed down from her palm tree, stepped onto the magical cable, and began to walk across the sparkling sky bridge. The cable swayed gently beneath her bare feet, singing soft melodies that made her think of lullabies.

"I'm Pip," the star creature said when Lila reached the middle. "We've been hoping someone would notice us. We need help delivering wishes tonight."

Together they traveled the starlight cable, sprinkling dreams into open windows and leaving courage pillows under worried heads. Lila learned that being curious wasn't wrong—it was how friendships began.

Now every night, Lila climbs her palm tree not to spy, but to help. And across the magical cable, she and Pip still deliver magic, one wish at a time.
