The Starlight Bull's Promise

In a village where the moon kissed the mountaintops every night, there lived a girl named Lily who loved to wander. One evening, as she followed a sparkling path near the river, she heard something strange—a deep, gentle breathing coming from behind the old willow tree.

There, drinking from the cool water, stood the most magnificent creature Lily had ever seen. It was a bull, but not like any bull from the farm. His coat shimmered like crushed diamonds, and his horns glowed with soft starlight. This was no ordinary bull—he was a starlight bull, come down from the constellation Taurus to visit the earth.

Lily's faithful dog, Buster, a scruffy terrier with one floppy ear, stood bravely between Lily and the magnificent creature. His tail wagged uncertainly, and he gave a small, brave bark.

The starlight bull lowered his massive head and spoke in a voice like distant thunder. 'Do not be afraid, little friends. I have come because the river's magic is fading, and I need brave hearts to help me restore it.'

'What can we do?' Lily asked, stepping forward with wonder in her eyes.

'The Source Stone upstream has been covered by shadows,' the bull explained. 'Only someone pure of heart can move them. Will you help me?'

Lily nodded without hesitation. Buster barked excitedly, ready for adventure.

Together they journeyed up the river path, past whispering reeds and sleeping frogs. The bull's light illuminated the darkness, turning the night into something magical rather than scary. When they reached the Source Stone, Lily saw the dark shadows clinging to it like heavy cobwebs.

With the bull's encouragement and Buster's happy barks of support, Lily placed her hands on the stone. She thought of all the times she had played by the river, of the fish and frogs and herons who called it home. Her love flowed through her palms, and the shadows dissolved into mist.

Instantly, the water began to sparkle and bubble with renewed magic. The bull's coat shone even brighter, and he lowered his head so Lily could touch his starlight horn.

'Thank you, brave hearts,' he said. 'Whenever you see water sparkle under the stars, remember: true magic lives in kindness and courage.'

With a mighty leap, the starlight bull returned to his constellation, leaving Lily and Buster to walk home under a sky full of twinkling friends. From that night on, every time Buster drank from the river, he would bark at the stars, and Lily knew he was saying hello.
