The Starlight Bear's Promise

Lily loved camping with her family, but tonight she felt lonely. Her big brother was too busy with his phone to play, and her parents were busy setting up the tent. Lily hugged her stuffed bear tight and whispered, "I wish I had a real friend."

Suddenly, a shooting star streaked across the sky. It landed right behind their campsite! Lily grabbed her flashlight and tiptoed closer, her stuffed bear still in her arms.

What she found made her gasp. A tiny, glowing bear cub no bigger than her hand sat blinking in the moonlight. Its fur sparkled like starlight.

"You woke me up!" the cub said in a voice like wind chimes. "I was having such a nice nap on Orion's shoulder."

Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

"All star bears can talk," the cub said proudly. "I'm Twinkle. What's your name?"

"I'm Lily. And this is Mr. Fluff."

Twinkle giggled. "Nice to meet you! But oh no — my star-dog ran away! He's afraid of the dark. Can you help me find him?"

Lily nodded eagerly. Together they crept through the forest, Twinkle glowing softly to light their way. They called softly, "Here, doggy, doggy!"

Suddenly, something wet and cold sniffed Lily's cheek. She looked up to see a beautiful silver dog with stars in his fur!

"That's Comet!" Twinkle cheered. "Thank you for helping me find my friend!"

Comet licked Lily's face, and she laughed. She didn't feel lonely anymore.

"Come back anytime," Twinkle said as they faded back into the sky. "Real friends are never far apart."

That night, Lily fell asleep under the stars, feeling warm and happy. She had made two magical friends, and discovered something wonderful: sometimes the best adventures happen when you least expect them.
