The Starlight Baseball Game
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every evening, he'd practice in his backyard with his trusty dog, Buster, a golden retriever who could chase any ball no matter how far it flew.
One magical night, when the full moon glowed like a giant pearl, Leo hit the baseball so high it disappeared into the stars. Buster barked excitedly as a sparkling silver cable dropped from the sky, dangling right above home plate.
"Grab on, Buster!" Leo called. The brave dog gripped the cable in his teeth, and Leo held onto his collar. WHOOSH! Up they soared, climbing through clouds that tasted like cotton candy.
They landed in a dazzling stadium made of stardust, where palm trees grew crystal coconuts and the grass sparkled like emeralds. But the most amazing sight was the players — all constellations come to life!
A magnificent white bull stepped forward, his horns gleaming like polished moonstones. "Welcome, Leo," the bull said in a voice deep as thunder but gentle as rain. "We've been waiting for someone who believes in magic."
The bull explained that every night, the stars played baseball to keep the sky shining brightly. But their best player, Sirius the Dog Star, had vanished, and now they needed help.
Buster wagged his tail so hard his whole body wiggled. "I can help!" Leo volunteered. The bull smiled and handed Leo a bat made from a fallen star.
The game began! Leo hit stardust balls that exploded into fireworks when caught. Buster outran comets and leaped over asteroids to make amazing catches. Together, they helped the constellation team win the most important game of the year.
As a reward, the bull granted Leo one wish. Leo thought carefully. "I wish that every child could see that magic is real — you just have to believe."
The bull nodded wisely. "That, Leo, is the most powerful wish of all. For believing makes anything possible."
Leo and Buster slid back down the shimmering cable, landing softly in their backyard just as the first birds began to sing. The magical baseball from the star game sat on the grass — proof that their adventure had been real.
That morning, Leo placed the star-ball on his shelf, right next to his most precious treasures. He knew that whenever he needed magic, all he had to do was believe — and look up at the stars.
And every night after that, Leo and Buster would wave at the sky, knowing their friends among the constellations were waving back, ready for another game whenever they returned.
