The Starlight Baseball Game

Charlie loved two things: baseball and looking up at the stars. Every night, he'd press his nose against his window, imagining the stars were tiny baseballs floating in the biggest sky-stadium ever.

One Saturday morning, his grandfather gave him something special. "These are starlight vitamins," Grandpa whispered with a twinkle in his eye. "They give you the energy of a thousand sunbeams."

Charlie was curious. The vitamins sparkled like crushed diamonds. He took one, and suddenly he felt lighter — like he could float!

That afternoon, Charlie saw something amazing. An old-fashioned cable car appeared out of nowhere, parked right in his backyard. Its metal cable stretched up, up, UP into the clouds, disappearing into the sparkling blue sky.

The cable car conductor was a friendly man with a mustache that wiggled when he smiled. "All aboard for the Starlight Baseball Game!" he called out. Charlie climbed in, his heart pounding with excitement.

The cable car began to climb. WHOOSH! Higher than the trees! Higher than the birds! Higher than his tallest dreams!

When they reached the top, Charlie gasped. Floating on a fluffy cloud was the most beautiful baseball field he'd ever seen. The bases were made of moonlight, and the players — children from all over the world — glowed with happiness.

"Charlie! You're our tenth player!" shouted a girl with braids that sparkled like the Milky Way. "We need you for the Cosmic Team!"

The baseball they used wasn't ordinary. It was made of condensed starlight, and when it was hit, it exploded into tiny fireworks that rained down on Earth as shooting stars. Everyone took their starlight vitamins before the game, because playing in the sky-stadium took extra energy.

Charlie hit the starlight baseball with all his might. CRACK! It soared across the diamond sky, leaving trails of rainbow colors. Everyone cheered, and Charlie felt something magical — not just the vitamin's energy, but the warmth of new friendships.

The game ended in a tie, which was perfect because in the Starlight League, everyone won together. As Charlie rode the cable car back home, he understood the real magic wasn't in the vitamins or the floating field. It was in believing that impossible dreams could come true, especially when shared with friends.

That night, Charlie took his regular vitamin and smiled at the stars. Somewhere up there, his friends were playing baseball, and he knew he'd be back soon for another magical game under the diamond-studded sky.
