The Starfish Vitamin

Milo was the only kid in Coral Cove who couldn't go swimming. While his friends splashed in the turquoise waves, he sat on the sand, clutching his lucky red hat. His messy hair stuck out everywhere—too wild to tame, just like his fear of the ocean.

One morning, something extraordinary washed up at his feet. A tiny starfish wearing a miniature top hat!

"Please help!" squeaked the starfish. "Princess Pearl needs the Magic Vitamin from the Three Palm Tree Cave! Only you can save her!"

Milo's heart raced. "But I can't swim!"

"That's why you're perfect," the starfish said. "The vitamin only works for someone brave enough to try despite their fears."

With the starfish tucked safely in his hair under the red hat, Milo marched toward the distant cave. His palms sweated, but his feet kept moving.

Inside the glittering cave, he found it—the Vitamin of Courage, glowing like a tiny sunset. But a large crab guarded it.

"You must answer my riddle," the crab clicked. "What makes someone truly brave?"

Milo thought of all the times he'd stayed on the beach while others played. Then he remembered the starfish depending on him.

"Being brave isn't not being scared," Milo said, his voice steady. "It's being scared but doing the right thing anyway."

The crab smiled and stepped aside. Milo grabbed the vitamin, and suddenly—he could breathe underwater!

Swimming back felt like flying. He rescued Princess Pearl (a beautiful seahorse) and became friends with every creature in the sea. The best part? Now when Milo wears his red hat and holds his palm-sized starfish friend, he knows the real magic was inside him all along.

Sometimes the biggest adventures start with being afraid—but showing up anyway.
