The Star-Vitamin Palm Tree
Lily loved exploring behind her house, especially the old, bent palm tree that swayed even when there wasn't any wind. Her dog Barnaby would always bark at it, his tail going thump-thump-thump against the rough bark.
One afternoon, as gray clouds gathered overhead, Lily's grandmother gave her a small bottle. "These are star vitamins," she whispered with a twinkle in her eye. "They help you see magic that others miss."
Lily wasn't sure she believed in magic, but she swallowed one vitamin anyway. That's when the first flash of lightning cracked across the sky.
Barnaby started barking wildly, pulling at Lily's shirt sleeve. He wanted her to follow him to the palm tree. As lightning flashed again, Lily gasped. Because of the star vitamin, she could see something amazing – each bolt of lightning that struck the palm tree made it glow with rainbow colors!
The old palm tree wasn't just a tree. It was a lightning catcher!
When the third bolt hit, the palm tree's fronds reached up like ten green arms and caught the lightning in its leaves. Then, slowly, the tree lowered one branch and offered Lily something incredible – a perfect, glowing coconut that hummed with energy.
Barnaby nudged Lily's hand, as if to say, "Go ahead!"
Lily took the glowing coconut and felt warmth spread through her fingers. She suddenly understood – the palm tree was catching lightning to make special wishes for kind children. And the star vitamin? It helped her see the magic happening all around her.
That night, Lily made a wish on the lightning-coconut. She wished that every child could have a magical friend like Barnaby and a wonder tree of their own.
Sometimes, if you look closely during a storm, you might see a palm tree glowing with rainbow lightning. And if you're very lucky, you'll discover that the most magical vitamins aren't the ones in bottles – they're the ones called curiosity and kindness, which help you see wonders everywhere.
