The Star-Vitamin Goldfish
Lily's goldfish Fin was no ordinary fish. While other goldfish swam in lazy circles, Fin spent his days pressing his nose against the glass of his bowl, watching the sky through the window.
"I wish I could swim up there," Fin bubbled. And wonder of wonders, Lily could understand him!
One evening, as the first star appeared, a glowing orange droplet fell from the sky and splashed into Fin's bowl. It pulsed with light like a tiny heartbeat.
"That's a star-vitamin!" the droplet whispered. "One sip lets you swim anywhere you dream."
Fin didn't hesitate. He gulped it down.
Suddenly, Fin began to float upward, right out of his bowl! His scales shimmered like liquid sunset as he swam through the air, leaving trails of sparkles behind him.
"Wait for me!" Lily cried.
Fin circled back. "Hop on, friend!"
Lily climbed onto Fin's back, and together they swam out the window and into the night sky. They soared past owls who blinked in surprise, through clouds that tasted like cotton candy, and right up to the moon.
"It's lonely up here," the moon sighed. "Nobody ever visits."
"We're here now," said Fin, and he and Lily spent the night swimming through craters and stardust, telling stories and making the moon laugh.
As dawn approached, the star-vitamin began to fade. "Time to go home," Fin said sadly.
"Come back whenever you want," the moon called. "You made me feel like I have a friend."
Back in his bowl, Fin swam his usual circles, but now Lily noticed something different. Other fish in the pet store window looked sad and lonely.
"They need friends too," Fin bubbled.
So Lily adopted three more goldfish, and Fin taught them something magical: friendship doesn't require star-vitamins or swimming to the moon. It just takes someone who cares.
And sometimes, if you look very closely at Fin's bowl on starry nights, you can still see tiny sparkles dancing in the water — a reminder that the best adventures are the ones you share with a friend.
