The Star That Fell to Earth
Lila loved running through the meadow behind her cottage. Every morning, she'd race the sunrise, her bare feet dancing over dew-kissed grass while the world woke up around her. But this morning was different.
Something was glowing near the old oak tree—a soft, silver light that pulsed like a heartbeat. Lila slowed her running, creeping closer. There, nestled among the roots, sat a tiny creature no bigger than her thumb, with fur that shimmered like moonbeams.
"Hello," Lila whispered. "Are you lost?"
The creature looked up with eyes like twin stars. "I'm a star-bear," it said in a voice like wind chimes. "I fell from the sky last night. I need to get back home before my light goes out."
Lila's heart swelled with kindness. "I'll help you! But how?"
"We must climb to the highest point and call my name: Lumina. Will you be my friend?" The star-bear's light flickered nervously.
"Yes!" Lila cried without hesitation. "Friends always help each other."
She gently cupped the bear in her hands and began the long climb up Moonlight Mountain. Her running had prepared her well—her legs were strong, her breath steady. But the path grew steep and rocky.
When Lila stumbled, the star-bear nuzzled her palm. "You're doing beautifully. Just a little further."
They reached the summit as the first stars appeared. Lila raised the bear toward the sky. "LUMINA!" she called with all her might.
The star-bear's bluish light burst into brilliant gold. She grew larger and larger until she became the brightest star in the heavens, twinkling down like a blessing.
"Thank you, my friend," Lumina's voice floated down. "Whenever you need light, just look up."
That night, Lila made a wish upon her friend. And every night after, whenever she went running through the meadow, the brightest star seemed to run right along beside her.
