The Star Pool's Secret

Lila loved running through the meadow behind her house, especially when the fireflies came out to dance. One evening, while chasing a particularly sparkly firefly, she stumbled upon something she'd never seen before.

In the middle of the woods stood a pool of water, but it wasn't ordinary water. It glowed with a soft blue light, and tiny stars seemed to swim beneath its surface like silver fish.

"Hello?" called a small voice. Lila jumped and turned to see Oliver, the quiet boy from her class, standing beside an oak tree.

"Did you find this too?" Lila asked. Oliver nodded, his eyes wide.

The two children knelt by the glowing pool. Looking into it, they didn't see their reflections. Instead, they saw dreams—Lila saw herself painting a giant mural, and Oliver saw himself standing on a stage, playing violin.

"It shows what you wish for," Oliver whispered. "But I could never do that. I'm too scared."

Suddenly, the pool's light began to dim. The stars were fading!

"It needs our help!" Lila cried. She grabbed Oliver's hand. "Running—just start running toward it! Trust me!"

Together they ran, splashing right into the magical water. But it didn't feel wet. It felt like jumping into a warm hug. The moment they did, the pool erupted with light, shooting stars up into the sky that burst into brilliant colors.

A voice echoed from the water: "Courage shared is courage doubled. Friends make magic possible."

The next day at school, Oliver signed up for the talent show. When Lila asked what changed, he smiled. "A friend showed me that some things are worth running toward."
