The Star-Painting Bear
Barnaby was not an ordinary bear. While other bears slept through winter, Barnaby stayed awake, painting stars across the midnight sky. Every night, he climbed the highest mountain, dipped his paw into a jar of sparkling dust, and swirled it across the darkness like magic glitter.
One evening, while painting a particularly twirly constellation, Barnaby heard a tiny meow below. Looking down, he saw a small orange cat sitting on a rock, watching him work.
"How do you make them shine so bright?" the cat called up.
Barnaby climbed down the mountain. "I'm just a regular bear," he said humbly. "But I believe every star needs someone to notice its sparkle."
The cat's green eyes widened. "I'm Cleo. I've always wanted to see the stars up close."
So Barnaby did something no bear had ever done before. He lifted Cleo onto his fuzzy shoulders and carried her up to the sky. Together, they painted galaxies — purple nebulae and golden comets and silver moonbeams that danced like ribbon.
"We make a wonderful team," Cleo purred as they added the finishing touches to a new constellation.
Barnaby nodded. "That's the secret," he said. "Stars shine brightest when you have a friend to share them with."
From that night on, Barnaby never painted alone. And if you look up at the sky on a clear evening and see two stars twinkling extra brightly together — that's Barnaby and Cleo, still painting magic across the universe, bear and cat, forever friends under the endless stars.
