The Star-Catcher's Magic Pool

Lily was the smallest star-catcher in the valley, but she had the biggest dreams. Every night, she climbed the ancient pine tree with her father's old climbing cable, hoping to catch just one falling star to light up her room.

One moonless night, something magical happened. A tiny bull with shimmering golden fur trotted out of the forest. His eyes held the wisdom of a thousand years.

"Come with me," the bull said softly. Lily's eyes widened—animals didn't talk!

She climbed onto his back, and they galloped through clouds that tasted like cotton candy. Soon they reached a hidden grotto where a glowing pool reflected a million stars above.

"This is the Star Pool," the bull explained. "Every thousand years, it produces star vitamins that give children special gifts."

Lily peered into the water. Glowing orbs floated inside like tiny moons.

"Take only one," the bull warned. "Greed turns gifts into burdens."

Lily reached in and felt warmth tingle up her arm. When she pulled her hand out, a single glowing orb rested in her palm. She swallowed it, and suddenly she could hear the trees whispering secrets, feel the clouds' emotions, and understand what every creature needed.

She became the valley's greatest helper. She knew when farmers' crops needed water, when lost children needed finding, and when lonely souls needed friends. Her special gift wasn't magic—it was simply knowing how to help.

The golden bull visited her each year, reminding her that the greatest gifts are those we share with others. And every night, Lily thanked the star that had chosen her, not because she was special, but because she had learned to use her gift to make the world a little brighter for everyone.

For that, she decided, was the true magic of being a star-catcher.
