The Star Cat's Gift
Lily loved sitting on her porch steps, watching the stars twinkle above the tall palm tree in her yard. Every evening, she'd wave at the brightest star, whispering, "Make a wish with me!"
One night, something magical happened. A tiny sparkle drifted down from the sky, swirling like a miniature tornado of light. It landed right in the palm of Lily's hand, glowing warmer and warmer until—POOF!
A cat appeared! But this was no ordinary cat. Its fur shimmered like midnight blue, sprinkled with glittering stars. Its eyes were golden moons, and when it purred, it sounded like wind chimes.
"Hello, friend," the cat spoke, its voice like gentle ripples in a pond. "I'm Orion. I've been watching you wave at my home for months."
Lily's eyes widened. "You... you're from the stars?"
Orion nodded, his star-marked tail curling around Lily's wrist. "I wanted to see what friendship felt like. In the sky, we shine alone. Down here, you hold friends close in your heart—and in your palm."
Every night after that, Orion returned. He taught Lily to hear star-music in the wind. He showed her how the palm tree's fronds danced to moon-songs. Together, they discovered friendship wasn't about being the same—it was about letting someone else's light make you brighter.
"Friends are like stars," Orion purred one evening. "We don't have to be close to shine together."
When Orion had to return to his constellation, he left Lily a gift: whenever she opened her palm under moonlight, tiny star-sparkles would appear, reminding her that friendship bridges all distances.
Now, whenever Lily waves at the brightest star, she knows her friend is waving back, their connection written in light across the universe.
