The Star Bull's Secret Pool
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something peculiar: an old brass cable that seemed to hum with a gentle glow. It stretched from the attic window all the way up into the clouds, disappearing like a silver thread into the gray sky.
Curious, Lily tugged gently. To her amazement, a tiny golden basket descended from above, attached to the mysterious cable. Inside sat a small bull the size of a kitten, with fur that sparkled like midnight and horns that glowed with starlight.
"Greetings, young friend," the bull spoke in a voice like distant thunder. "I am Orion, fallen from the constellation Taurus. My star-glow has dimmed, and I cannot return to the sky without the magic of the Moon-Dew Pool."
Lily's eyes widened. "I can help!"
She climbed into the basket, and together they ascended the cable into a hidden world above the clouds. There, nestled among cotton-candy clouds, lay a pool of shimmering silver water—the Moon-Dew Pool.
But the pool was guarded by a riddle-cloud that swirled into shapes. "To enter," it boomed, "you must answer: What shines brightest when all lights go out?"
Orion hung his head. "I do not know."
Lily thought hard. Then she smiled. "Hope! Because even in the darkest night, hope shines brightest in our hearts."
The cloud dissolved into sparkles. Lily dipped her hands into the cool silver pool and splashed the magical water over Orion. Instantly, the bull began to grow, his starlight blazing brighter and brighter until he filled the sky.
"Thank you, brave friend," Orion's voice rumbled warmly. "Whenever you need courage, look for my constellation. I'll be watching over you."
Lily climbed back down the cable, her heart full of wonder. That night, she looked out her window. The Taurus constellation shone brighter than any star in the sky—and it seemed to be winking at her.
Sometimes the smallest adventures lead to the biggest friendships. And sometimes, hope really is the brightest light of all.
