The Star Bull's Moonlit Pool
Lily loved exploring the forest behind her grandmother's house. One warm summer evening, she followed a trail of glowing fireflies deeper than she'd ever gone before.
There, nestled between ancient oaks, she discovered a pool she'd never seen before. It wasn't an ordinary swimming pool—this pool shimmered like liquid silver, reflecting the moonlight with such brilliance it looked like a piece of the sky had fallen to earth.
Suddenly, a large shape emerged from between the trees. Lily gasped, but she didn't feel afraid. A magnificent bull stepped into the clearing—his coat was midnight blue with speckles of silver, and his curved horns gleamed like polished moonlight. But most amazing of all was his hair. His mane flowed like a river of starlight, shimmering with every color of the aurora.
"I've been waiting for someone like you," the bull said gently. His voice sounded like wind chimes.
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"I am a Star Bull, fallen from the constellation Taurus," he explained. "My star-hair became tangled in a comet's tail, and I tumbled down. Only the purest pool can help me return home."
The bull lowered his magnificent head, and Lily understood. She waded into the magical pool. The water felt like warm honey. Gently, she began to comb through his flowing hair with her fingers, untangling the stardust and comet sparks.
With each knot she smoothed, the bull glowed brighter. Fireflies danced around them, and the pool began to sparkle like diamonds.
"Thank you, little friend," the Star Bull whispered as the last tangle fell free. "Your kindness has more power than any magic spell."
He leaped gracefully upward, his star-hair streaming behind him like a banner of light. Higher and higher he soared, until he joined the familiar V-shape of stars in the night sky.
Lily ran home, her heart full of wonder. Every night, she looked up at the stars, knowing that among them, her friend was watching over her—and that the smallest acts of kindness could send someone home.
