The Star Bull's Midnight Wish
Lily was always running. She ran through fields of golden wheat, ran past sleepy farmhouses, ran until her heart felt like a happy drum beating in her chest. Her feet knew every path, every shortcut, every secret trail in her village.
One night, while running beneath the silver moon, Lily heard something strange. A deep, sad sound like thunder rumbling far away. She followed the noise to the old farm pond, where something impossible waited.
A bull sat beside the pool, but not like any bull Lily had ever seen. His coat shimmered with starlight, his horns glowed like crescent moons, and his eyes held the depth of entire galaxies. This was no ordinary farm animal — this was a star creature who had fallen from the constellation Taurus.
"I'm stuck," the Star Bull said, his voice warm and rumbly, like a fireplace crackling. "I slipped while running across the Milky Way and fell into your world. The Pool of Reflection can send me home, but I'm too heavy to climb out."
Lily's eyes grew wide with wonder. She knelt beside the pool, where water as smooth as glass reflected stars that weren't in the sky above. The pool was magic — a doorway between worlds.
"I'll help you," Lily promised. "But how can a little girl move a star bull?"
"Together," the Star Bull said wisely. "Sometimes the strongest magic isn't in size or strength. It's in never giving up on a friend."
Lily thought hard. She remembered how her grandfather said that wishes could move mountains if you truly believed. She closed her eyes and made a wish — not for herself, but for her new friend.
The pool began to glow. Golden light swirled around them. The Star Bull's hooves lifted from the ground, and together they floated upward, higher and higher, until the village below looked like a toy map.
"Thank you, Lily," the Star Bull called as he rejoined his constellation. "You showed me that kindness is the strongest magic of all."
From that night on, whenever Lily was running beneath the stars, she would wave to the constellation Taurus. And sometimes, just sometimes, the star bull would wave back, his horns glowing like a secret promise that magic is real for those who believe.
Lily learned something wonderful that night: the best adventures find you when you're running toward kindness, and true friends help each other reach for the stars.
