The Star Bull's Midnight Wish

Lila loved the night. Every evening, she would climb the old palm tree behind her grandmother's cottage and listen to the stars whisper. But tonight, the stars weren't whispering—they were crying.

Something splashed in the spring below. Lila peeked through the palm fronds and gasped. A magnificent creature stood by the water's edge—a bull made entirely of stardust, his coat shimmering like crushed diamonds. His horns were crescent moons, and his eyes held the deep wisdom of ancient galaxies.

"Please," the Star Bull spoke, his voice like wind chimes. "I fell from the sky when my wish went wrong. Now I'm stuck here until the next comet passes—seven nights from now. But my light is fading in this world."

Lila scrambled down the palm trunk. "How can I help?"

"I need to be reflected in true water under the full moon," the Star Bull explained. "But the spring is too small. I need the Great Lake, and I can't find it alone."

Lila's stubborn hair always tangled in the wind, but tonight she wished it were longer—long enough to weave into a rope. Then she remembered the silky threads her grandmother had stored from the giant silk spiders.

"I can guide you!" Lila promised. She ran to fetch the silk threads, braiding them into a long golden cord. "Hold this, and I'll lead you."

Together they journeyed through the enchanted forest. Lila's bare feet whispered on moss, while the Star Bull's hooves made no sound at all. They crossed singing creeks and danced through meadows where fireflies spelled out encouraging messages.

By dawn, they reached the Great Lake. But the Star Bull had grown dim—his diamond coat now looked like pale chalk.

"Hurry," he urged softly.

They waited. Seven long days and nights, Lila never left his side. She shared her food, told him stories of her world, and even braided small sections of his stardust mane when it tangled in the wind. They became the best of friends.

Finally, the full moon rose—a perfect silver coin. The Star Bull stepped into the still water, and the moon's reflection captured his image. Light burst from his body like fireworks!

"Thank you, little friend," he nuzzled her cheek one last time. Then he dissolved into a thousand silver sparkles, shooting up to join his constellation family.

Lila's palm cradled something he'd left behind—a single diamond star that still glows on her windowsill. Every night, she waves to Taurus the Bull, and his constellation winks back, reminding her that true friends always help each other shine.
