The Star-Bull's Midnight Splash

Mia loved her backyard pool, but only when the sun was shining. At night, especially during storms, the deep water looked mysterious and a little scary.

One evening, while lightning flashed across the sky like nature's fireworks, Mia peeked through her window. She couldn't sleep. The storm was too exciting! Suddenly, something caught her eye – a golden glow in the pool below.

She crept downstairs and opened the back door. There, swimming in circles, was a tiny bull made entirely of starlight! His horns were crescent moons, his eyes sparkled like diamonds, and when he moved, he left trails of glitter across the water's surface.

"Hello," Mia whispered, amazed.

The star-bull looked up sadly. "I'm Orion," he said. "I fell from the sky during the lightning storm. I need to get back to my constellation before sunrise, or I'll fade away forever."

Mia's heart raced. She wanted to help, but the pool looked so dark and deep in the stormy light.

"I don't know if I can," she said. "I'm not very brave."

Orion nudged her hand with his glowing nose. "Bravery isn't about not being afraid," he told her. "It's about being scared but doing the right thing anyway."

Another lightning bolt flashed – brighter this time – and Mia understood. Sometimes, helping a friend was more important than fear.

She took a deep breath and waded into the pool. The water was warm and filled with tiny lights that swirled around her legs like fireflies. Together, she and Orion splashed through the magical water, following each lightning flash upward.

"Higher!" Orion cried. "The lightning is our bridge!"

Mia lifted Orion toward the sky as a massive lightning bolt struck nearby. Its energy caught the star-bull, lifting him up, up, UP – until he became a bright spark in the constellation Taurus.

"Thank you, Mia!" Orion's voice twinkled down from the heavens. "You were braver than you knew!"

Mia stood in her pool, wet but grinning. She wasn't afraid of the dark anymore. She had made a friend in the stars, and discovered that courage was something she'd had all along – she just needed a little lightning to help her shine.
