The Star Bull's Midnight Run

Lila loved lying on her hill at midnight, watching stars dance across the velvet sky. One summer evening, as heat **lightning** painted the sky in silent flashes of purple and gold, she noticed something wonderful.

The brightest star in Taurus—the bull constellation—was wiggling!

Lila rubbed her eyes. The star popped loose from its heavenly place and tumbled downward like a spark from a campfire. It landed softly beside her, and as the glow faded, there stood a tiny bull made entirely of stardust and moonlight. His horns shimmered like crystal, and his hooves left sparkling prints wherever he stepped.

"I'm Barnaby," the star bull said, his voice sounding like wind chimes. "I've watched you wish on me for years. Tonight's my night off from constellation duty! Want to play?"

Lila's heart did a happy flip. "YES!" she whispered, careful not to wake the sleeping house below.

Barnaby lowered his starry back. "Hop on! We're going **running**!"

They raced across meadows that glowed beneath their hooves. They splashed through streams where fish made of silver light darted around their legs. They galloped through forests where fireflies danced circles around them, lighting their way like tiny lanterns.

"You're so fast!" Lila laughed, the wind rushing through her hair like invisible fingers.

"You're braver than you think," Barnaby replied. "Most children would be afraid to ride a star bull." He nudged her with his soft nose. "True friendship isn't about being big or strong. It's about being brave enough to say yes to adventure."

Too soon, the eastern sky turned pink with dawn. Barnaby slowed to a stop beside Lila's hill.

"Time for me to go back," he said sadly. "But I'll always be watching over you."

Lila hugged his stardust neck. "Will I ever see you again?"

"Whenever you need courage," Barnaby promised. "Just look up at the bull constellation. I'll wink back."

With one last sparkle, he galloped upward, trailing silver light behind him. Lila watched until he settled back into his place among the stars, twinkling brighter than ever.

That night, as Lila finally crawled into bed, she noticed something wonderful in her mirror—a streak of stardust in her hair, shimmering like a promise from a friend.

She fell asleep smiling, already dreaming of next midnight's adventure.
