The Star Bull's Midnight Pool

Lily loved the summer, especially when her grandmother set up the old swimming pool in the backyard. But tonight was special—the Perseid meteor shower!

"Make a wish on every shooting star!" Grandma said, tucking Lily into bed. But Lily was too excited. At midnight, she tiptoed outside in her pajamas.

The pool water shimmered like liquid diamonds under the moonlight. Suddenly, something splashed! A magnificent creature climbed out—not a real bull, but one made of stardust and dreams. His coat gleamed like the Milky Way, his horns were moonbeams.

"I'm Ferdinand," the Star Bull rumbled gently. "I fell from the sky while running my nightly race across the constellations. May I rest in your pool?"

Lily nodded, wide-eyed. "But won't you melt?"

"Stardust doesn't melt in water—it glows!" Ferdinand stepped into the pool, and suddenly the water turned into a galaxy of tiny stars swirling around his legs.

"Hop in!" Ferdinand invited. "We'll swim through space together!"

Lily jumped in, and suddenly she was swimming through nebulae and comet trails! She saw the Moon Queen's crystal palace and raced shooting stars. But as dawn approached, Ferdinand grew faint.

"I must return to my constellation," he said sadly. "But first—" he nudged a shimmering stone into Lily's hand. "A piece of my star heart. Keep it, and whenever you're swimming or running or just feeling lonely, hold it tight. I'll be watching."

"But which star are you?" Lily called as he faded into the pink morning sky.

"Find the brightest bull in the winter sky—that's me! We'll meet again in your dreams."

Lily woke up in her bed, the star stone glowing softly on her nightstand. Had it been a dream? That night, she looked up at the constellation Taurus—and one star twinkled especially bright, like a magical wink.

Sometimes the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to believe in impossible things.
