The Star-Bull's Midnight Game
Lily discovered the old wooden padel tucked behind dusty boxes in her grandmother's attic. It shimmered with an otherworldly glow, carved with constellations she'd never seen before.
That night, when the moon painted her bedroom silver, Lily sneaked outside to the beach. The palm trees whispered secrets as she passed, their fronds tickling her cheeks like gentle fingers.
She stepped onto the wet sand where ocean met shore. The padel hummed against her palm, warm and alive. To her wonder, when she touched its surface to the water, it didn't sink—it glided!
Lily gasped as the padel carried her across waves that sparkled like spilled diamonds. The farther she sailed, the brighter the water became, until it glowed with soft purple light.
Suddenly, stars swirled overhead and formed something magnificent—a great bull made of constellations, its coat a galaxy of twinkling lights. It lowered its massive head, and Lily realized with a start that the padel in her hand was a game piece from an ancient sky-game played by magical creatures.
"You've found my missing piece," the Star-Bull spoke, its voice like wind chimes. "Long ago, I dropped it while racing comets. Without it, the midnight game cannot continue."
Lily's heart raced. "Will you teach me to play?"
The bull's constellation eyes twinkled. "If you return what you borrowed, you'll become part of the game forever."
She handed over the glowing padel. Instantly, new stars appeared around her—her own constellation! She wasn't just playing; she was now part of the magic, a guardian of the midnight game.
Every night since, when children sleep, Lily and the Star-Bull skate across magical waters, playing their glowing game beneath palm trees that still whisper their secrets to those wild enough to listen.
