The Star Bull's Midnight Game

Ten-year-old Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every night, he'd practice his swing in the backyard under the stars, his favorite baseball worn smooth from countless hits. But nobody wanted to play with him—not the kids who said he was too small, not his busy older sister.

One hot summer night, Leo followed a strange glow behind the old oak tree. There, in a circle of moonlight, was the most beautiful water he'd ever seen—a spring that sparkled like diamonds, each ripple sending up tiny stars.

"Wonderful, isn't it?" rumbled a deep, gentle voice. Leo turned to see a magnificent bull standing beside him. But this wasn't like the farmer bulls down the road. His coat shimmered like midnight galaxies, his horns were made of twisted stardust, and his eyes held the wisdom of ancient constellations.

"I'm Taurus," said the star bull. "And I've watched you practice every night. Your dedication reminds me of why the stars stay in their places—because they believe they belong there."

Leo's mouth fell open. "You're... from the sky?"

Taurus nodded. "I come down when children's dreams need extra magic. Like yours." With a flick of his starry horn, a baseball appeared—glowing softly, made of compressed moonlight. "Would you like to play?"

They played until dawn, Taurus calling out encouragement in his deep, cosmic voice. The star bull taught Leo that baseball wasn't about winning—it was about friendship, patience, and believing in yourself even when others didn't.

As the sun began to rise, Taurus grew faint. "Remember, little dreamer," he whispered, "the water remembers everything. When you feel alone, come here. The stars are always watching, and dreams are stronger than doubt."

Leo ran home, his heart full of stardust. The next day at school, when kids picked teams for recess, Leo stepped forward with new confidence. He couldn't explain the midnight magic, but he carried it inside him—a secret glow, a knowing smile, and the memory that even star bulls believe in small dreamers who never give up.

That night, Leo looked up at the constellation Taurus, twinkling knowingly above. And somehow, he knew the game was far from over.
