The Star-Bull's Midnight Baseball
Leo hated his hair. It puffed out like a golden dandelion, impossible to tame. Every morning, his mom tried to smooth it down, but by lunchtime, POOF—wild and springy again.
One summer night, Leo couldn't sleep. He crept outside with his baseball, tossing it higher and higher, wishing his curls would just behave. Suddenly, the ball didn't come down. It kept floating up, past the roof, past the trees, into the starry sky.
Leo ran after it, chasing through magical meadows where fireflies spelled his name. He found his ball resting on a cloud—and beside it stood the most magnificent creature he'd ever seen.
It was a bull, but not like any farm animal. This bull was made of stardust and moonlight, his horns curved like crescent moons, his coat shimmering with constellations. The Star-Bull nudged the baseball toward Leo with his velvet nose.
"Play?" the Star-Bull rumbled softly. His voice sounded like wind chimes.
They played the most wonderful game of baseball among the clouds. The Star-Bull hit home runs that turned into shooting stars. Leo's wild hair caught the stardust as he ran, making his curls twinkle like tiny galaxies.
"Your hair is beautiful," said the Star-Bull. "It holds the magic of the night sky."
Leo had never thought about it that way. His curly hair wasn't messy—it was like the Star-Bull's constellation coat! Full of wonder, full of magic.
"You're my best friend," Leo said, hugging the Stardust Bull goodnight.
The next morning, Leo's mom tried to comb his hair. "Just let it be," Leo said with a smile. "It's perfect exactly as it is."
Sometimes, if you look closely at a starry sky, you can still see Leo and his friend playing baseball among the constellations, their game making the stars twinkle brighter than ever.
