The Star-Bull's Midnight Baseball
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every summer evening, he'd practice in his backyard until the streetlights flickered on. But tonight, something strange happened.
As Leo packed his bat, he noticed an old telephone cable dangling from the pole. It shimmered with an unusual golden glow. Curious, he gave it a gentle tug. Suddenly, the cable began to move like a rope ladder, climbing higher and higher into the sky!
Leo's heart pounded. He grabbed the shimmering cable and climbed up, up, up until he reached a magnificent pool floating among the clouds. The water sparkled like liquid diamonds, and stars swam inside like tiny silver fish.
"Welcome, young friend!" boomed a deep, friendly voice.
Leo gasped. A magnificent bull stood beside the pool—its coat was midnight blue with constellations twinkling across its back, and its horns gleamed like crescent moons.
"I'm Orion, the Star-Bull," the creature said. "We've been waiting for someone to play baseball with us!"
Leo's eyes widened. "You know baseball?"
Orion chuckled. "Of course! The stars invented it. Want to play?"
The game was magical. The baseball was made of compressed lightning—it crackled and glowed as Leo hit it into the sky, where it exploded into tiny fireworks! The star-bull was surprisingly fast, catching fly balls in its massive gentle horns.
But then Leo struck out. He felt tears welling up. "I'm sorry I ruined the game."
Orion knelt beside him. "You didn't ruin anything. Baseball isn't about being perfect. It's about trying your best and having fun with friends."
The bull tossed the lightning baseball to Leo. "Keep this. Whenever you play, remember: the real magic isn't in winning—it's in the joy of the game."
Leo slid down the glowing cable, landing softly in his backyard. The lightning baseball now sat on his shelf, a gentle reminder that friendship and fun matter most of all.
And sometimes, when he looks up at the stars, he winks at Orion, the best baseball buddy anyone could ever have.
