The Star Bear's Sparkle
Mia was playing behind her grandmother's old palm tree when she heard a tiny sneeze.
"Bless you!" she called out.
Another sneeze came from behind the wide, green leaves. Mia peeked around the trunk and gasped. There sat the smallest bear she had ever seen, no bigger than a kitten. But the most amazing thing was its hair—it sparkled like tiny blue stars!
"I'm Pippin," the bear squeaked. "I fell from the sky last night."
Mia knelt down. "You're a star bear?"
Pippin nodded, and his sparkly hair twinkled even brighter. "I need to get back home before the moon rises, or I'll lose my glow forever."
Mia looked at the palm tree above them. Its trunk was very tall, but it had rough patches perfect for climbing. "I can help you climb up!"
She lifted Pippin into her pocket and began to climb. Up they went, past the big green leaves, higher and higher until the whole world looked tiny below them.
At the very top, Mia reached up and held Pippin toward the darkening sky. His hair began to glow softly, brighter and brighter, until he shone like a tiny blue moon.
"Thank you, Mia!" Pippin called as he floated upward. "I'll never forget you!"
Mia watched until he became just another star in the night sky. But every night since, when she looks up at the stars, one special blue star twinkles extra bright, as if winking at her. And that, Mia knows, is her friend Pippin, saying hello from his home in the sky.
Sometimes the best adventures come from the smallest friends, and the kindest hearts can help anyone find their way home.
