The Star Bear's Midnight Race
Emma's stuffed bear sat on her pillow every night, but tonight something magical happened. When the moonlight streamed through her window, the bear twitched its nose and blinked!
"I'm Barnaby," the bear whispered, his fur shimmering like stardust. "And I need your help."
Emma's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"Only during the midnight hour," Barnaby explained. "I've lost my magic vitamins. They fell into the Enchanted Pool in the forest behind your house. Without them, I'll turn back into a regular toy bear forever!"
Emma grabbed her flashlight. "Let's go!"
They crept downstairs and slipped outside. The forest was glowing with fireflies.
"We have to start running," Barnaby said. "The magic only lasts until dawn!"
Emma ran with the bear tucked in her arms, his fur against her cheek. They dodged between trees, leaped over roots, and followed a path of sparkly stones until they reached the pool.
It wasn't just any pool. The water sparkled in every color of the rainbow, and floating on top were hundreds of glowing vitamin pills—each one shaped like a different star!
"The Star Vitamins!" Barnaby cried. "Quick, Emma—we need to catch them before they sink!"
Emma scrambled around the pool's edge, scooping up the magical vitamins and dropping them into Barnaby's open mouth. With each one, his glow grew brighter.
Suddenly, the sun began to peek over the horizon.
"One more!" Barnaby urged.
Emma spotted the last vitamin—a golden one shaped like a heart—floating in the center. Without thinking, she waded in, her pajamas soaking up the magical water, and grabbed it.
Barnaby swallowed it and burst into brilliant light. "Thank you, Emma! You're the bravest friend ever."
He placed a paw on her cheek, leaving a sparkly mark. "Now you'll always have a piece of magic with you."
When Emma woke up in her bed, her pajamas were dry, and Barnaby sat on her pillow—regular stuffed bear again. But on her cheek glowed a tiny, star-shaped mark, and in her pocket sat one golden vitamin, glowing softly.
Some adventures are real, even when nobody believes you. And the best friends are the ones who run to your side, no matter what.
