The Spy and the Pyramid's Secret
Lily was a spy. Well, a pretend spy. She wore her brother's old sunglasses and carried a magnifying glass everywhere. Her mission: solve the mystery of the backyard.
Every night after dinner, Lily would sneak out to investigate. One Tuesday, she noticed something strange. The moonlight hit the old oak tree, and there it was—a perfect pyramid made of glowing stones!
Lily crept closer. She expected to find a rabbit or maybe a fairy.
Suddenly, a green hand poked out from behind the pyramid! Lily almost jumped out of her skin.
"Please don't run," said a soft, rumbly voice. "I'm not scary. I'm just lonely."
Out stepped a zombie—but not the scary kind from stories. This zombie had bright purple hair, polka-dot pajamas, and the gentlest smile Lily had ever seen.
"I'm Zed," he said. "I've been asleep in this magic pyramid for three hundred years. Your spy-spying woke me up!"
Lily's fear melted away. "I'm Lily. I've never met a zombie before. Do you... eat brains?"
Zed laughed, a sound like dry leaves crunching happily. "Blegh! No way. I love spinach! It gives me energy. Want some?"
He pulled out a giant spinach leaf from his pajama pocket. It shimmered with magic.
Lily tried it. It tasted like sunshine and strawberries!
"Wow!" she said. "We could be spy partners!"
Every night after that, Lily and Zed went on adventures. They solved mysteries, helped lost fireflies find their way home, and shared spinach snacks under the stars.
Lily learned something wonderful: things that seem scary at first might just be lonely. And the best adventures are the ones you share with friends—even if your friend happens to be a three-hundred-year-old zombie who lives in a magic pyramid and loves spinach.
The magic pyramid glowed brighter every time they laughed. Lily knew she had discovered the greatest treasure of all: friendship in the most unexpected place.
