The Spinach Sphinx's Secret

Lily loved to **spy** on magical things in her grandmother's garden. Every day after school, she'd hide behind the big sunflowers and watch for fairies, gnomes, or any creature that might be hiding among the flowers.

One afternoon, while crouching near the old pond, Lily noticed something extraordinary. A tiny **sphinx** no bigger than a kitten sat on a lily pad! Its wings sparkled like rainbows, and its eyes held ancient wisdom.

"Hello there," Lily whispered, stepping forward.

The sphinx blinked. "Hello, curious one. I am Cleo, guardian of this magical **water**."

Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk!"

"Indeed," Cleo said, stretching her wings. "I've been watching you watch me. You're very good at spying." She smiled mischieviously. "But I'm hungry. Do you have any **spinach**?"

"Spinach?" Lily laughed. "Yes! My grandmother grows the best spinach in her garden. I'll bring you some!"

Lily ran to the garden and returned with a handful of fresh green leaves. Cleo ate them happily, her eyes glowing brighter with each bite.

"Delicious!" the sphinx said. "Now, would you like to learn something magical?"

"Yes!" Lily clapped.

Cleo touched Lily's forehead with her paw. "Now you can try **swimming** in my special pond. The magic will keep you safe."

Lily stepped into the water. Normally, she was afraid of deep water, but with Cleo watching, she felt brave. She began to swim, gliding through the water like a mermaid. Tiny fish swam beside her, and the water itself seemed to sparkle with happiness.

"You're brave," Cleo said. "That's the most important magic of all."

From that day on, Lily visited Cleo every afternoon. She learned that being curious wasn't just about spying on secrets—it was about making friends and trying new things, even when they seemed scary.

And sometimes, Lily thought as she munched on spinach herself, the best adventures start with being brave enough to say hello.
