The Spinach Miracle
Leo stared at the green mound on his plate. His mom called it super food, but Leo called it yucky food.
"Eat your spinach, Leo!" Mom smiled. "It'll make you strong."
Leo sighed and took a tiny bite. Something strange tingled in his mouth—like fizzy lemonade mixed with sparkles.
That afternoon, Leo grabbed his baseball mitt and headed to the park. His team, the Shooting Stars, was losing badly. The other team laughed whenever Leo swung and missed.
"You can do this!" his best friend Mia called from the dugout.
Leo stepped up to the plate. The pitcher threw the ball—FOOM!
Leo's hand suddenly felt warm. He looked down at his palm, and it was glowing soft green, just like the spinach!
SWISH! Leo swung the bat. CRACK! The ball soared higher and higher, over the fence, into the farmer's field next door.
"I'll get it!" Leo ran after it.
In the field, a massive bull was sleeping near the baseball. Leo froze. Everyone knew Farmer Brown's bull was grumpy.
But the bull opened one eye. It wasn't grumpy at all—it looked sad.
The bull nudged the baseball toward Leo with its nose. Then it pawed at the ground, wanting to play.
Leo's palm still glowed green. He could FEEL what the bull was thinking. The bull just wanted a friend!
Leo tossed the baseball. The bull bounded after it, sliding in the grass like a giant puppy. They played catch until the sun began to set.
"Leo!" Mia called. "Your team won because of your home run!"
Leo patted the bull's head. "Would you like to come to my games?" he whispered.
The bull nodded.
Every Saturday, Leo ate his spinach. His palm would glow, and he and the bull—now named Bessie—would play baseball while the Shooting Stars cheered. No one laughed at Leo anymore. Instead, they asked how he became such an amazing player.
Leo would smile and pat his pocket. "It's simple. I eat my spinach, and I remember that even grumpy-looking bullies just want someone to play with."
And that's how Leo learned that the right food—and the right heart—could make miracles happen.
