The Sphinx Who Loved to Play
Young Lily loved spending her summer days at the park, especially near the old palm tree where she practiced her padel strokes against the stone wall. One afternoon, as her bright yellow padel ball sailed over the wall, she heard a gentle voice say, "Nice shot!"
Lily peeked around the palm tree and gasped. There, sitting in the dappled sunlight, was a small golden sphinx with the softest lion paws and tiny wings that shimmered like morning dew.
"I'm Sophie," the sphinx said shyly. "I've been watching you. Padel looks like such fun!"
Lily's eyes widened. "You can play? But you're... a sphinx! Sphinxes are supposed to be scary and ask riddles!"
Sophie giggled, her laugh like wind chimes. "That's just what people think. I'm not into riddles. I'm into padel! I bet I could hit that ball all the way to Egypt!"
And with that, Sophie bounded onto the padel court, her paws perfect for holding the racket. She wasn't scary at all—she was the most fun friend Lily had ever made.
For a magical hour they played, Sophie's wings fluttering excitedly with every point. Other children came to watch, and soon everyone wanted to play with the amazing padel-playing sphinx.
Lily realized something important that day: sometimes the most wonderful friends are the ones we least expect to meet. And sometimes, even ancient mythical creatures just want to play padel and have fun.
From that day on, every afternoon you could find them—Lily and Sophie, best friends forever, playing their favorite game under the swaying palm tree, proving that magic and friendship go together perfectly.
