The Sphinx Who Loved to Play

Lily loved exploring behind the old waterfall where the **water** sparkled like diamonds in the sun. One afternoon, she discovered something magical—a tiny **sphinx** no bigger than a cat, with golden wings and emerald eyes, crying quietly on a mossy rock.

"What's wrong?" Lily asked softly.

The sphinx looked up. "Nobody wants to be my **friend** because I don't like riddles. I just want to play!"

Lily smiled. "I love playing! What's your favorite game?"

The sphinx's eyes lit up. "**Padel**! Do you have a racquet?"

Lily giggled. "I have something better!" She pulled a bright **orange** from her lunch bag and split it in half. "Let's play Orange Ball—we'll hit this back and forth with our hands!"

The sphinx's wings fluttered with joy. For hours, they laughed and played beside the rushing water, the orange flying through the air like a tiny sun. The sphinx was quick and clever, diving and jumping.

"You're amazing!" Lily said.

"And you're the best friend ever," the sphinx replied. "Because you liked me for who I am, not for what you thought a sphinx should be."

As the sun set, they shared the sweet orange slices. The sphinx taught Lily that true friends accept each other's differences—and that sometimes the best adventures happen when you least expect them.

Every day after school, Lily returned to the waterfall. They invented new games together, and the little sphinx finally felt proud to be exactly who she was: a sphinx who loved to play.
