The Sphinx Who Loved Sports

In the dusty library behind the school, ten-year-old Leo discovered something impossible. An ancient sphinx statue winked at him!

"I'm Cleo," whispered the sphinx, stretching her stone wings. "And I'm bored of riddles. I want to play!"

Leo couldn't believe it. A sphinx who wanted to have fun? Cleo explained she'd been watching children play through the window for centuries. The next day, Leo brought his baseball glove to the library.

Cleo was terrible at baseball. When she threw the ball, it accidentally hit Mr. Henderson's prize-winning bull through the fence. The bull, named Buster, just looked confused and licked the ball.

"We need something smaller," Leo said.

That afternoon, Leo's sister was playing padel with her friends. Cleo fell in love! She could actually hit the little ball with the paddle-shaped racket. Her golden eyes lit up with joy.

But then Leo noticed something strange. His classmate Emma was crying behind the equipment shed.

"What's wrong?" Leo asked.

"Someone stole my lucky bracelet," Emma sniffed. "Before the big tournament tomorrow."

Cleo's ears twitched. "I can help. Sphinxes have special eyes. I can be a spy!"

That night, Cleo and Leo sneaked back to the sports court. The sphinx's magical vision revealed tiny footprints in the dust, shimmering like moonlight. They followed the trail to... Buster the bull's pen! The bracelet was tangled in his horns.

"He must have liked how it sparkled," Leo laughed, carefully untangling it.

The next day, Emma won her tournament, thanks to her returned lucky bracelet. She never knew her secret spy was a mythical creature who loved padel.

"True friendship," Cleo said wisely, "is the best treasure of all. Even better than solving riddles."

And every afternoon after school, Leo and Cleo played padel together, while Buster watched through the fence, still wearing that baseball ball like a trophy.
