The Sphinx Who Loved Splashing

In a cave painted with rainbow colors, a young sphinx named Cleo sat all alone. Sphinxes are supposed to be wise and serious, asking riddles to travelers. But Cleo had a secret wish – she wanted to go swimming.

One rainy afternoon, a giant bear named Barnaby lumbered into her cave. He shook his wet fur, sending droplets everywhere like tiny diamonds.

"Hello there!" rumbled Barnaby cheerfully. "I'm just escaping the storm."

Outside, lightning flashed across the sky like golden ribbons. Most sphinxes would stay inside, but Cleo pressed her nose against the rain.

"I wish I could splash like you," she whispered.

Barnaby's eyes grew wide. "You've never been swimming?"

Cleo shook her lion head sadly. "Sphinxes don't swim. We guard treasures and ask riddles. It's very serious work."

"But," said Barnaby gently, "the best treasures aren't gold or jewels. They're the moments that make your heart happy."

Cleo thought about this. Her heart did feel happy watching the rain dance.

"Come with me," Barnaby said. "I know a magical pond where the water glows when lightning strikes!"

Hand in paw, they stepped into the warm rain. When lightning flashed – BOOM! – the pond lit up with shimmering blue light. Cleo gasped in wonder.

Barnaby splashed into the water. "The water's your friend, Cleo. Just trust yourself."

Cleo dipped one paw, then another. Soon, she was swimming in circles, laughing as her lion tail created bubbly trails. The lightning above wasn't scary anymore – it was like nature's own fireworks celebrating her bravery.

From that day on, Cleo was still a sphinx, but a different kind. She asked riddles about joy and friendship. And every stormy night, the mysterious sphinx and her bear friend could be found swimming together, turning ordinary lightning into magical memories.

Because the real treasure, Cleo learned, wasn't being what others expected – it was being brave enough to discover what made you truly happy.
