The Sphinx Who Loved Padel

padelfriendsphinx

Lila loved playing padel in her backyard. The blue ball would bounce against the wall, and her yellow padel racquet would make a satisfying *thwack* sound every time she hit it. But sometimes, playing alone was lonely.

One afternoon, the ball bounced unusually high and sailed over the garden wall. Lila climbed over to fetch it and found herself in a part of the garden she'd never noticed before. Between two ancient oak trees stood a small stone sphinx, no bigger than a garden gnome, with emerald eyes that sparkled like morning dew.

"I've been waiting three hundred years for someone to play padel with me," the sphinx said, stretching its stone wings. "My name is Cleo."

Lila's eyes grew wide. "You can talk? And you know padel?"

"I watch from behind the roses," Cleo smiled. "Would you be my friend?"

"Yes!" Lila cheered. "But you have no racquet."

Cleo winked, and a tiny golden padel racquet appeared in her paw. "Magic, my dear friend."

They played until sunset, the sphinx surprisingly skilled at the game. Lila laughed more than she had in months. The ball bounced between them, and with every hit, their friendship grew stronger.

"Come back tomorrow?" Cleo asked as the sun dipped below the horizon.

"Every day!" Lila promised.

That night, Lila realized something wonderful: sometimes the best friends appear when we least expect them, and even a sphinx can love padel. She fell asleep dreaming of tomorrow's game, her heart full of magic and friendship.
