The Sphinx Who Loved Padel
Lily loved running more than anything. Every morning, she'd race through her village, her bare feet pounding the golden Egyptian sand. But one day, her running took her somewhere unexpected—past the old palm trees, beyond the market, right to the ancient pyramid that everyone said was haunted.
The pyramid glowed with magic, and at its base sat a magnificent sphinx. But this sphinx wasn't scary or mysterious. She looked sad, her great stone wings drooping.
"No one wants to play with me," the sphinx sighed, her echo bouncing off the pyramid walls. "I've been guarding this treasure for three thousand years, and all I really want is someone to play padel."
Lily's eyes widened. "You know padel?"
"Of course!" The sphinx perked up. "My creator taught me before he passed. But everyone runs away when they see me."
"Not me!" Lily grinned. "But I don't have a racket."
The sphinx winked and tapped the pyramid with her paw. The ancient stones shimmered, and suddenly, two magical padel rackets appeared—one sized for a girl, one sized for a sphinx.
They played until sunset, the sphinx's powerful returns echoing against the pyramid. Lily had never laughed so hard while running across the court, diving for shots, and cheering when the sphinx did a happy spin after winning a point.
"You'll come back tomorrow?" the sphinx asked as the sun began to set.
"Every day," Lily promised, already running home, her heart full of new adventure.
And she did. Together, they taught the whole village that sometimes the most magical friendships happen when you're brave enough to say hello instead of running away.
