The Sphinx Who Loved Padel
Lily loved exploring the park behind her house. One sunny afternoon, she followed a trail of orange petals deeper into the woods than she'd ever gone before. The petals sparkled like tiny stars.
Suddenly, she came upon a clearing she'd never seen. In the middle stood a magnificent creature — a sphinx with golden fur and wise amber eyes. But this sphinx wasn't posing a riddle. She was holding a padel racket!
"Want to play?" the sphinx asked, her voice warm and friendly. "I'm Cleo, and I absolutely love padel."
Lily's eyes went wide. "You know padel?"
Celo laughed, a sound like wind chimes. "Of course! It's the most wonderful game. Would you like to learn?"
Lily nodded eagerly. For the next hour, Cleo taught her how to hold the racket, how to hit the ball, and most importantly, how to laugh when she missed. The ball they used was magical — it glowed orange whenever it bounced, leaving trails of light like comets.
"You're very good," Cleo said as they rested. "But do you know the real secret of padel?"
Lily shook her head.
"It's not about winning," Cleo explained. "It's about joy. When you play with happiness in your heart, the ball always finds its way back."
Lily understood. She'd been so worried about playing perfectly that she'd forgotten to have fun. She picked up her racket again, and this time she smiled with every swing. The orange ball danced between them, and the clearing filled with laughter.
When the sun began to set, Cleo handed Lily a small orange fruit. "Take this," she said. "Whenever you feel nervous, remember that games are meant for joy. And if you ever want to play again, just follow the orange petals."
Lily hugged the sphinx gratefully. As she walked home, she took a bite of the orange. It tasted like sunshine and adventure.
From that day on, whenever Lily played padel or any game, she remembered Cleo's lesson. And sometimes, when she visited the clearing, she'd find orange petals waiting to guide her way to her very unusual friend.
