The Sphinx Who Loved Orange Popsicles
Lily discovered the old cable car on the hottest day of summer. It creaked and swayed as it climbed up Misty Mountain, carrying her to a place she'd never seen before.
At the top, she found something amazing—a crystal-clear pool surrounded by palm trees. And swimming in it was a sphinx!
The sphinx had golden fur and gentle eyes. She wasn't scary at all. 'Hello there!' said the sphinx, paddling over to the edge. 'I'm Sunny. What's your name?'
'I'm Lily,' she whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.
Sunny climbed out of the water and shook herself dry like a puppy. 'Would you like an orange popsicle? I make them myself!' She reached behind a nearby rock and pulled out the most delicious-looking orange treat Lily had ever seen.
As they ate their popsicles, Sunny told Lily a secret. 'I'm not just any sphinx. I'm a spy for the Mountain Queen. I watch over everything from up here and make sure everyone stays safe.' She winked. 'But don't tell anyone. It's our secret mission.'
Lily felt so special. 'Can I help you spy?'
'Of course!' said Sunny, handing Lily a pair of magical binoculars. 'Together, we'll watch over the whole valley.'
And so every day that summer, Lily took the cable car up the mountain to go swimming with her friend Sunny. They ate orange popsicles, spied on the clouds, and protected their magical mountain kingdom.
Lily learned that the best adventures are the ones you share with friends, and that even the most unexpected creatures can become the best of companions.
