The Sphinx Who Loved Green Things

In the golden desert of Egypt, where pyramids touched the clouds, lived a small sphinx named Cleo. Unlike other sphinxes who loved posing riddles to travelers, Cleo had a secret—she adored growing vegetables in a hidden oasis garden.

Every morning, Cleo watered her precious spinach plants with water from a glittering spring. The spinach leaves grew big and emerald-green, sparkling like jewels in the sunlight. But the other sphinxes laughed. "Sphinxes should ask riddles, not grow vegetables!" they teased. Cleo's lion ears drooped, but she kept tending her garden anyway.

One starry night, a magnificent lightning storm swept across the desert. Bolts of purple and gold lightning danced across the sky like cosmic ribbons. Cleo watched in awe as a single lightning bolt struck her spinach patch!

To her amazement, the spinach plants began to glow with magical energy. They grew taller and taller until they became enormous leaves—large enough to ride like magic carpets! The lightning had given her spinach special powers.

Suddenly, a young traveler named Amir stumbled upon her oasis, lost and frightened. "I can't find my way home!" he cried. Cleo smiled. "Hop on my spinach leaf!"

Together they soared through the stormy sky on the enchanted spinach, dodging lightning bolts that now guided them like friendly fireflies. The lightning's crackling energy seemed to say, "This way! That way!" Below, the other sphinxes watched with mouths open.

Cleo delivered Amir safely to his village, then flew back to her garden. The lightning-blessed spinach had wilted, but tiny new seedlings already sprouted in its place—sparkling with leftover magic.

The other sphinxes stopped laughing that day. Cleo had discovered something wonderful: being different wasn't bad at all. Sometimes the things that make us unique are the very things that let us help others.

Now whenever lightning storms danced across the desert, travelers would see a small sphinx zooming through the clouds on a magical spinach leaf, always ready to help someone in need.
