The Sphinx Who Loved Baseball
Leo was practicing baseball in his backyard when something extraordinary happened. As he tossed his orange baseball into the air, it shimmered and turned into a real orange! Before he could blink, a magnificent creature appeared beside him—a sphinx with golden fur and sparkling blue eyes.
"I smelled your orange," the sphinx said kindly. "I am Cleo, and I've watched you play. Baseball looks like such fun!"
Leo's cat, Mochi, trotted over and rubbed against Cleo's paw. The sphinx giggled, a sound like wind chimes.
"Would you like to learn?" Leo asked, amazed.
Cleo nodded eagerly. For hours, they played baseball together. Cleo was gentle but strong, hitting the ball so high it touched clouds. Mochi chased after it, pouncing playfully.
When they grew tired, they sat in the grass sharing orange slices. Cleo told them stories of ancient pyramids and hidden treasures. In return, Leo taught her about teamwork and friendship—the real magic of baseball.
"In my land," Cleo said sadly, "cretures play alone. We don't know how to work together."
Leo placed his hand on her paw. "That's why you need friends. That's the best part of any game."
Cleo's eyes lit up. "I must share this with others!"
Before she left, Cleo gave Leo a magical gift—the ability to see wonder everywhere. Now whenever he plays baseball, he spots magical creatures hiding in the clouds. And sometimes, if he shares an orange, Cleo appears for another game.
Leo learned that the best adventures come from sharing what you love with others—even if they're sphinxes who love oranges and baseball.
