The Sphinx Who Lost Her Roar

Lily was playing in her grandmother's garden when she noticed something strange. Behind the big orange tree, a pair of golden eyes blinked at her. It was a sphinx! But not like in her storybooks—this sphinx had bright orange hair tied in messy pigtails and held a tiny padel racket.

"Hello there!" the sphinx chirped, but no sound came out. She tried again, opening her mouth wide, but her roar had disappeared.

Lily approached cautiously. "What's your name?"

The sphinx pointed to a silver tag on her racket that read 'Cleo'. She looked sad, clutching a small bottle in her other hand.

"What's that?" Lily asked.

Cleo held up the bottle. It was labeled 'Moonlight Vitamin Elixir'. She mimed drinking it, then touched her throat and shook her head.

"Oh! You need vitamins to get your roar back!" Lily understood. "But you're out?"

Cleo nodded, then pointed to the distant mountains where stars twinkled even though it was daytime. The Star Mountains! Where the magical moonflowers grew—the main ingredient for the elixir.

"I'll help you!" Lily exclaimed, grabbing her adventure backpack. Together they set off, Cleo fluttering her sandy-colored wings while Lily skipped beside her.

The journey was filled with wonders. They crossed the Whispering River, where fish sang lullabies, and climbed the Gigantic Staircase, each step carved from crystal. Finally, they reached the peak of the highest mountain, where moonflowers glowed with soft silver light.

But there was a problem—a grumpy griffin guarded the flowers, snoring in front of them.

Cleo had an idea. She held up her padel racket and found a small pebble. With a gentle swing, she hit the pebble so it bounced off three crystal walls and landed right next to the griffin's nose. The griffin sneezed itself awake, then sneezed again from the pebble dust, and stumbled away in confusion!

Quickly, Lily gathered the moonflowers while Cleo did a victory dance with her racket.

Back in the garden, they mixed the elixir with spring water and orange slices from grandmother's tree. Cleo drank it eagerly—and let out the most magnificent roar! It sounded like thunder mixed with honey.

"Thank you, Lily!" Cleo's voice finally worked. "You didn't just help me find my roar. You taught me something too—friendship is the strongest magic of all."

From that day on, every full moon, Cleo returned to play padel with Lily in the garden, and they always shared orange slices while talking about their next adventure. Because the best magic, they discovered, is the kind you share with a friend.
