The Sphinx Who Liked Fish
Lily loved her pet goldfish, Sparkle. But one day, Sparkle floated at the top of her bowl. Lily's eyes filled with tears. Her grandmother, who knew about magical things, sprinkled glittering dust into the bowl. Sparkle swam again! "She's a zombie goldfish now," her grandmother winked. "But the friendly kind."
That night, Lily heard a soft rumble outside her window. A stone sphinx sat in her garden, looking at her with wise, kind eyes. The sphinx had a riddle: "What has fins but no feet, swims but never walks, and can come back when your heart is true?"
Lily knew the answer. "Sparkle! My goldfish!"
The sphinx smiled, and Lily felt warm inside. The sphinx explained that she had been lonely for centuries, guarding secrets but never having a friend. Lily invited the sphinx inside to meet Sparkle.
The sphinx was gentle with the little fish. "You're special," she told Sparkle. "Not many fish get second chances."
Lily learned something important that day. Friendship isn't about being the same. It's about caring. The sphinx was ancient stone, Lily was a little girl, and Sparkle was a zombie goldfish who kept coming back. Together, they were perfect.
Every night, the sphinx visited. She told Lily stories from ancient times, and Lily showed the sphinx how to play with toys. Sparkle swam happily, watching her new friends.
Some people might think a stone statue can't be a friend, or that a zombie fish is strange. But Lily knew better. The best friends are the ones who love you, no matter how different you are.
And that's the magic of true friendship - it turns ordinary days into extraordinary adventures, just like having a sphinx in your garden who loves zombie goldfish riddles.
