The Sphinx Who Forgot How to Smile

In the golden desert of Egypt, where sand dunes stretched like endless waves, young Sophie discovered something amazing. She was on vacation with her family, exploring near the great pyramids, when she noticed something strange.

A tiny sphinx, no bigger than her cat, sat on a rock. But this sphinx looked sad. Its stone face was droopy, and its wings were tucked tight against its body.

"Hello there," Sophie said softly. "Why are you sad?"

The little sphinx looked up with twinkling amber eyes. "I've forgotten how to smile," it whispered. "And without my smile, I can't fly home to my family atop the Great Pyramid."

Sophie's heart melted. "I can help you! My name's Sophie, and I'm really good at making people laugh."

She began running in circles, making funny faces. She told jokes about dancing camels and silly pharaohs who wore their crowns upside down. The little sphinx's stone mouth twitched. Then came a tiny giggle. Suddenly, the sphinx let out the most wonderful laugh, and its face lit up with a brilliant smile.

"You did it!" cheered Sophie.

The sphinx's wings spread wide, shimmering with magic. "Hop on, Sophie! I'll give you the best ride of your life!"

Together they soared above the desert, the wind rushing through Sophie's hair. They flew over ancient tombs and glittering oasis pools. The sphinx showed her secret places no human had ever seen—hidden chambers filled with golden treasures, and friendly desert foxes who waved hello.

"Thank you for helping me remember," the sphinx said as they landed gently beside Sophie's hotel. "Friends like you are the greatest treasure of all."

Sophie hugged her new friend goodbye, her heart full of joy. She learned that kindness and friendship can unlock magic anywhere, even in the most unexpected places.

That night, Sophie fell asleep with a smile, dreaming of sphinxes, pyramids, and wonderful adventures yet to come.
