The Sphinx Who Dreamed of Swimming

Cleo was no ordinary cat. She had fur the color of moonlight and eyes that held ancient secrets. Every night, she crept through the golden sands of Egypt until she reached the great pyramids.

Beneath the stars, Cleo met her best friend—a small stone sphinx who came to life only when the moon was full. The sphinx had the body of a lion and the face of a kind child, and his name was Orion.

"I wish I could see what's beyond the desert," Orion sighed, his stone tail twitching sadly. "I've never seen the ocean. I've never gone swimming."

Cleo's ears perked up. "Swimming? Oh, Orion! It's the most magical feeling in the world!"

"But I'm made of stone," Orion said. "I would sink."

"Not with magic!" Cleo purred. "And not with a friend by your side."

Together, they journeyed to the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. The water sparkled like diamonds under the moonlight. But Orion stood frozen at the shore, afraid.

"What if I sink?" he whispered.

Cleo rubbed her head against his stone paw. "True courage isn't about not being scared. It's about trying anyway, especially when you have friends who believe in you."

Orion took a deep breath and stepped into the waves. At first, he felt heavy. The water pulled at his stone paws. But then Cleo began swimming beside him, her silver fur glistening. "Kick your legs! Like a fish!"

Orion kicked. And suddenly, something magical happened. The moonlight made him glow, and his heavy stone body became light as a feather. He was swimming!

They splashed and played until dawn painted the sky pink. As the sun rose, Orion turned back into stone, but he had the biggest smile on his face.

"Thank you, Cleo," he whispered. "You helped me believe in myself."

Celo curled up beside her friend, purring softly. "That's what friends do, Orion. We help each other fly—even when we're swimming."
