The Sphinx Who Couldn't Smile
Lily discovered the old padel racket in her grandmother's dusty attic. Unlike any racquet she'd ever seen, this one sparkled with tiny silver stars that twinkled when her fingers brushed the handle. The wooden frame hummed with an ancient melody.
"Find your friend," it whispered in a voice like wind chimes.
Curious and brave, Lily swung the magical padel through the air. WHOOSH! A shimmering golden doorway appeared right there in the attic. On the other side stood a magnificent sphinx with emerald eyes that held centuries of wisdom, golden feathers shimmering like sunrise, and enormous paws as soft as clouds.
But the sphinx looked terribly sad.
"No one can solve my riddles," the sphinx sighed, her voice echoing like distant thunder. "So no one will stay and play with me."
Lily stepped forward without fear. "I'm Lily! I don't need riddles to be someone's friend."
The sphinx's enormous emerald eyes widened with wonder. No one had ever spoken to her like that before. "Then let us play padel among the clouds!"
The sphinx scooped Lily onto her back, and they soared upward through cotton-candy clouds. In a magical sky realm, moonlight wove itself into perfect padel courts. Lily taught the sphinx how to serve the ball, while the sphinx taught Lily how to really FLY as she dived through constellations to return shots.
For hours they played, their laughter echoing across galaxies. The sphinx finally smiled—a smile brighter than any supernova.
"Friendship," she whispered, "is the greatest riddle of all."
When Lily returned home, a golden feather rested in her pocket. Now every night when she looks at the stars, she sees her sphinx friend smiling back, proving that magic lives wherever friendship grows.
