The Sphinx Who Couldn't Fly
Leo was a very small sphinx with very big dreams. Living in the golden desert oasis, he watched his brothers and sisters soar through the purple sunset sky, their wings sparkling like diamond dust. But Leo's wings were tiny—barely bigger than **palm** leaves.
Every evening, the magical palm trees around the oasis would whisper ancient stories to anyone who listened. Tonight, they whispered something new: a great star-bull had fallen from the sky and was trapped in the Crystal Caves beyond the dunes.
"Someone must help him!" Leo cried, though his friends laughed. "You? You can't even fly!"
But Leo knew something they didn't. The oldest **sphinx** in oasis history—Great Aunt Zephyr—hadn't flown either. She had discovered something more powerful than wings.
**Running** toward the Crystal Caves, Leo felt his heart pounding like desert drums. The sand was warm beneath his paws, and wind rushed through his fur. Faster and faster he went, until something magical happened—his paws barely touched the ground! Leo was gliding, floating, bounding over dunes like a shooting star!
In the Crystal Caves, he found the star-bull—a magnificent creature with glowing silver horns and a coat like midnight sky. The bull was stuck between two giant crystals.
"Thank the stars," the bull rumbled gently. "I am Orion. I fell while racing comets."
Leo pushed with all his might, but the crystals wouldn't budge. Then he remembered Aunt Zephyr's secret: "True power comes from believing in others." Leo closed his eyes and believed—really believed—in Orion's ability to fly free.
Suddenly, the crystals began to hum. Orion's silver horns blazed like captured moonlight, and with a mighty whoosh, he burst free!
"Hop on, little friend!" Orion called.
Together they soared—Leo riding on Orion's back—flying higher and faster than any sphinx had ever flown. They raced comets and danced with constellations until dawn painted the sky pink.
When Leo returned home, his wings were still tiny. But now he knew something more important: size doesn't matter when you have courage, kindness, and friends who believe in you.
