The Sphinx's Wishing Pyramid

Maya's fingers trembled as she picked up the small golden pyramid in the dusty Cairo marketplace. It was no bigger than her thumb, with mysterious symbols etched into its sides. The old shopkeeper smiled mysteriously. "This chooses its owner," he whispered.

That night, in her hotel room, Maya placed the pyramid on her nightstand. As moonlight streamed through the window, the pyramid began to glow! Maya reached out to touch it, and suddenly she was standing in a desert under a sky full of stars.

Before her rose a magnificent pyramid, shimmering like liquid silver. And sitting beside it was a Sphinx - but not like in pictures! This Sphinx was small, with bright amber eyes and a friendly smile.

"Hello, Maya," the Sphinx said. "I'm Zahi, guardian of the Wishing Pyramid. You've come at just the right time!"

Zahi led Maya inside the pyramid. In the center bubbled a pool of glowing water. "This is Wishing Water," Zahi explained sadly. "Children's wishes from all over the world flow through it. But lately, the water has stopped sparkling. Without enough friendship and wonder, it's losing its magic."

"What can we do?" Maya asked.

"The water needs vitamins of joy," Zahi said. "The magic that comes from laughing, playing, and sharing dreams with friends."

Maya's eyes lit up. She showed Zahi her favorite clapping game, taught him how to make shadow animals with her hands, and told him about her best friend back home. They laughed until their sides hurt. As a sign of her new friendship, Maya reached into her pocket and pulled out her strawberry vitamin gummy.

"This is for you," she said. "So you'll always be strong."

Zahi accepted it with tears in his eyes. "No one has ever given me a gift before."

Suddenly, the Wishing Water began to bubble and sparkle brighter than ever! The friendship and joy had restored its magic. Golden light filled the pyramid.

"Maya," Zahi said, "you may make one wish."

Maya thought carefully. "I wish that you'll never be lonely again, and that children will always remember to visit the Wishing Pyramid."

The water glowed even brighter, and Maya knew her wish had come true. She hugged Zahi goodbye, and in a blink, she was back in her hotel room.

The golden pyramid sat on her nightstand, now glowing softly with a warm light. From that day on, whenever Maya felt lonely or needed courage, she held her pyramid and remembered her friend Zahi. And somewhere, across the world, a little Sphinx smiled as more children discovered the magic of friendship.
