The Sphinx's Vitamin
Luna loved exploring the desert behind her house, especially at sunset when the sand dunes turned pink and gold. Her golden retriever, Barnaby, always trotted beside her, his tail wagging like a fluffy metronome.
One evening, they discovered something amazing—a giant stone Sphinx half-buried in the sand! But this Sphinx looked sad. Her stone eyes drooped, and her beautiful wings were dusty and still.
"Hello?" Luna whispered. The Sphinx sighed, and sand puffed from her carved lips.
"I've been asleep for a thousand years," the Sphinx rumbled. "I'm so lonely I've forgotten how to fly."
That night, Luna had a brilliant idea. Her mom gave her vitamins every morning to stay healthy and strong. Maybe the Sphinx needed something too!
Luna rushed to the kitchen and found her vitamin bottle—the orange ones shaped like little stars. She grabbed one and stuffed it into her pocket.
The next morning, Luna and Barnaby raced back to the dunes. The Sphinx was still there, looking even gloomier.
"Excuse me," Luna said, climbing onto the Sphinx's giant paw. "But have you ever had a vitamin?"
The Sphinx blinked her stone eyelids. "A vitamin? What's that?"
"It makes you strong!" Luna said, holding up the orange star. "My mom says vitamins are magic for your body."
Barnaby barked excitedly, jumping around the Sphinx's paw.
The Sphinx opened her mouth, and Luna placed the vitamin on her giant stone tongue. The Sphinx swallowed—and suddenly, her eyes began to glow!
"Magic vitamins!" the Sphinx exclaimed, stretching her wings. Dust flew everywhere as she stood up, towering over the dunes. "I feel... WONDERFUL!"
She scooped up Luna and Barnaby, placing them gently on her golden shoulder. Together they soared into the sky, watching the desert turn rainbow colors beneath them.
"You're my best friend," the Sphinx said, her voice booming like happy thunder. "You gave me something better than magic. You gave me friendship!"
Luna hugged the Sphinx's warm neck. "And you're my friend too!"
From that day on, every sunset, Luna and Barnaby would visit their Sphinx friend. They learned that the best magic doesn't come in bottles or from ancient spells—it comes from kindness, friendship, and caring about others.
Sometimes, the simplest things can bring the greatest joy. Even something as small as a vitamin, shared with a friend, can make stone hearts come alive.
