The Sphinx's Swimming Secret

Lily loved summer days at the community pool. Her messy brown hair always turned into wet strings as she splashed and played. But today was different.

As Lily climbed out of the water, something sparkled at the bottom of the pool. She blinked. A golden face was staring back at her!

She jumped back in for a closer look. It was a tiny sphinx, no bigger than her hand, sitting cross-legged on a golden throne at the pool's bottom. The sphinx had magnificent rainbow-colored hair that floated around her like seaweed, even underwater.

The sphinx tapped an ancient-looking iphone carved from stone. Bubbles floated up with words inside: "I am Cleopatra, Queen of the Pool Sphinxes. I've been trapped here for 1,000 years! Will you help me?"

Lily's heart pounded with excitement. "How?"

"The magic pool key is hidden in the diving board," the sphinx's bubbles read. "But I'm too small to reach it. Only someone who loves swimming can help."

Lily had always been afraid of the diving board. It seemed so high up! But she looked at the tiny sphinx with her flowing rainbow hair and knew what she had to do.

She climbed the ladder step by step. Her legs trembled. The sphinx below looked like a colorful gem. Lily squeezed her eyes shut, took a deep breath, and JUMPED!

Splash! She dove deeper than ever before and found a shiny golden key taped underneath the board. When she surfaced, gasping for air, the sphinx was already growing bigger and bigger.

"Thank you, brave friend!" Cleopatra said, her voice echoing magically. "You faced your fear to help someone in need. That is true courage."

The sphinx pressed her stone iphone, and rainbow water exploded upward, carrying Cleopatra toward the sky.

"Visit me anytime," she called, diving into the clouds like they were a giant swimming pool in the sky. "And remember — the best adventures start with being brave!"

That night, Lily touched her special gold coin necklace the sphinx had given her. It glowed softly, like moonlight on water. She couldn't wait for tomorrow's swimming adventure.
