The Sphinx's Sweet Secret
Mia and Leo loved playing padel in their backyard court. Every afternoon after school, they'd hit the ball back and forth, laughing as it bounced off the walls. One sunny day, they took a break beneath the old papaya tree, sharing the sweet orange fruit for a snack.
"This papaya is so good!" said Leo, licking the sweet juice from his fingers. Just then, the tree's leaves rustled, and a small golden sphinx stepped out. He was only the size of a kitten, with tiny paws and wise, twinkling eyes.
"Greetings, young friends," the sphinx said in a voice like gentle wind chimes. "I am Petunia, guardian of the sharing tree. I've watched you play padel together every day, always sharing your snacks and laughter."
Mia's eyes widened. "You've been watching us?"
"Indeed," Petunia purred. "True friendship is rare and precious. Because you always share—your game, your food, your joy—I shall grant you one wish."
Leo looked at Mia, and Mia looked at Leo. They didn't have to think long.
"We wish that everyone could find a friend as good as ours," Mia said.
The sphinx smiled, and his golden fur shimmered like sunshine. "Granted!" He pressed his paw to each of their foreheads. "Now, whenever you share with kindness, you'll spread friendship magic."
From that day on, whenever Mia and Leo shared their papaya or invited others to play padel, something magical happened. Lonely children found friends. Grumpy neighbors started smiling. Their whole street became the friendliest place in town.
And Petunia? He still lives in the papaya tree, watching over the children and their games, reminding them that the sweetest things in life are meant to be shared.
